AgeDEFY Coaching: Stop Fixing the Injury
Why Injured Movers Need a Different Strategy
New Movement New Results
Most injured movers make the same mistake.
Something hurts, so they focus on fixing where it hurts.
Bad knee? Work the knee.
Bad shoulder? Rehab the shoulder.
Bad hip? Stretch it. Strengthen it. Ice it. Obsess over it.
I did the same thing.
I was diagnosed with grade 3 arthritis, an acetabular cyst, and a torn labrum. My hips were degenerating in my forties.
I spent years trying to fix them.
More mobility.
More strength.
More yoga.
Acupuncture.
Physical therapy.
Personal training.
Massage.
Chiropractic care.
Even stem cell therapy.
After thousands of dollars trying to save my hips.
They kept getting worse. I walked with a limp.
I had to accept that my hips were injured.
No matter what I did, I was never going to fix them.
So I stopped trying.
I stopped focusing on my hips and went to work on the rest of my body.
At the time, I was a full-time yoga teacher and studio owner in Denver.
When I stopped trying to fix my hips, I also stopped teaching yoga.
If I was going to live in that much pain, I needed a different movement approach.
So I stepped off the yoga mat.
And went to work on AgeDEFY.
I studied foot therapy.
Became a certified mobility coach.
Took a lymphatic health course.
Learned to crawl with Ido Portal.
Became a Health Coach.
An Orthopedic Exercise Specialist.
A Sports Performance Coach.
I stopped chasing pain, and started building
BodyAbility.
The Shift That Changed My Recovery
Everything changed when I stopped trying to fix my hips.
I strengthened my feet.
Trained my core.
Built shoulder stability.
Improved balance and coordination.
Calmed my nervous system.
Improved lymphatic flow.
When I finally had both hips replaced, my recovery was fast.
My rebound was strong.
Not because my hips were fixed,
because the rest of me was strong.
Six Years Later
Six years after having both hips replaced:
I am a full-time AgeDEFY teacher.
I completed a half-marathon.
A mountain triathlon.
Rode all 7 days of RAGBRAI in 2024.
Became a competitive beach volleyball player in my 50s.
I move the way I move today because I stopped trying to fix my hips.
My goal with AgeDEFY is to inspire other injured movers to feel better, move better, and live better as they age.
Why This Matters for Shoulder Therapy
This month is Shoulder Therapy on Patreon: 10 days of movement therapy for healthy shoulders.
Today is Workout 2: Hand, Wrist, and Elbow Therapy on Patreon
Shoulders don’t exist in isolation.
If your wrists are weak, your shoulder compensates.
If your elbows are stiff, your shoulder absorbs more force.
If your hands lack control, your shoulder pays the price.
At AgeDEFY, we don’t chase pain.
We heal around the injury.
This is the AgeDEFY way.
A different way of training.
A different way of recovering.
And if you stay with me long enough, you’ll see how deep this approach really goes.
If you’re an injured mover, join me inside Shoulder Therapy on Patreon.
Ten minutes a day.
Ten days.
Heal around the injury.
The more you AgeDEFY, the better you feel.
Enjoy the therapy.

Powerful lived insights......and solutions. I can see and feel how this approach will support my shoulder recovery. Thanks.
